Historical Background

      Najaf Technical Institute, briefly referred to as (N. T. I.) is one of the important educational and training establishments in the

       region, it is founded in 1978 firstly with only three scientific departments and located about (5) Kms to the south of the city.

     The institute aims to graduating technical staffs having diploma certificate in their respective fields after spending two calendar

      years following the secondary stage with all  branches (scientific, literature and vocational).

      The following academic and scientific departments are now included in the institute:

           A.    The engineering disciplines:

                        A.1. Civil department: Founded in 1978 and includes sections of (building and construction, roads

                            constructions, building and engineering design).

                    A.2.   Department of electricity (power): Founded in 1978.

                    A.3.  Department of Mechanical technologies (materials production branch): Founded in 1979.

                   A.4.   Department of Communications: founded in 1986.

                   A.5.   Department of machineries and equipments (refrigeration and air conditioning branch.):

           Founded in 1987.

                  A.6. Department of Electronics: Founded in 1994.

         B.       administrative disciplines:

                  B.1    Department of Accounting: founded in 1978.

                  B.2    Department of Computer Systems: Founded in 1986.

                  B.3    Department of the Legal administration founded in 1986.

        C.   Applied arts disciplines:

                 C.1   Department of garments industry techniques: founded in 1993.

                 C.2   Department of architectural design and decoration: founded in 2006.
